I was recommended for this project by a previous client. The garden was small, flat with lawn and concrete slab patio. The surrounds were pressure treated panels within concrete posts, left and right. The back boundary was overlooked with gravel boards dropped between concrete posts. There was an existing steel shed. Access for mini digger was good, but tight between shed and house, I measured and guessed I would be able to get the digger in.
I sat down with the clients and drew up a wishlist;
- Paint surrounds
- Soften existing steel shed
- Low maintenance
- Privacy along back boundary
- An area for roller blading
- Garden lighting
- All year round interest
The design I created was tailored to fulfil all of the above. It was based on a circular paved area for rollerblading. To soften the large paved area I included two contrasting granite types, Oatmeal & Silver to soften and add interest. The surrounds were to be painted in a contrasting Sadolins âAntracite. The shed was to be softened with a small curved bed to include telegraph pole creating plinth for sculpture and 2,400x400x200mm pressure treated post to hold a re-tractible Barbantia clothes line. A soakaway was installed around the paving edge with a raised cobble edge behind to give height and definition. A raised rectangular bed was installed using silver granite kerbs to a height of 600mm parallel to the back boundary. This bed would house a specimen Laurel hedge to give instant privacy from houses behind. The doors were framed with two containers planted with prostrate Rosmarys. A silver granite seat was installed below the raised bed providing a view up the garden towards the house.
The plants were chosen with the clients at Gardenworld Trade Nurseries. This landscapers Dublin contract turned out really well and we were rewarded with this outstanding 5 star Google review:
Kevin has completely transformed my garden and how my family will live in our home.
From the very beginning, Kevin listened carefully to what we wanted to get from the garden makeover, and importantly he took his time to understand the space and the surroundings.
Our house is a new build, and the garden is small. We wanted something low maintenance, beautiful; full of life and colour – a space we could use as another room, and a space where I could practice roller skating đ
What we have now has exceeded my expectations. Even though we had agreed a plan, I was blown away by how it has turned out. Kevin is exceptionally committed to the project. A perfectionist at heart, Kevin has an eye for the detail and works collaboratively to get the best result. We had an end-to-end service – from design, build, helping us to choose the plants and carrying out the planting work.
I can’t recommend Kevin highly enough. I feel very lucky and very grateful for my gorgeous new garden.
