After site survey and discussion with the client to understand requirements, expectations and budget we came up with the following brief

  • Granite patio with steps
  • New railings for dog
  • New lawn
  • Water feature
  • Low maintenance
  • Low voltage garden lighting
  • Granite retaining walls
  • Black limestone circle
  • New planting

Our landscapers first started on the front of the property. A circular black limestone patio surrounded by silver granite cobbles was installed to the left of the entrance.  Unsuitable plants were then removed with surviving plants and hedges cut back. Suitable new plants were then introduced to the beds. All ground debris  was removed and a geotextile matting laid through all beds. The matting was disguised with Ballylusk gravel around the new patio and bark mulch closer to the house, both barriers would ensure low maintenance going forward.

Our landscapers then moved to the back of the property. 4 core SWA was laid with loops formed at various points  for future light installation and water feature. Retaining walls were installed using granite slabs and stone. Quarry screenings were used to fill behind retaining walls and steps compacting every 75mm layer as filling progressed. Once levels were achieved the granite patio was laid on a bed of 50mm wet cement with all falls away from house into beds and lawn. The grouting was then carried out using a 3:1 wet sludge which was spread over the whole patio using a stiff brush, left to go off (Aprox. 2hrs) and power sprayed clean. The railing installation was then carried out creating area for dog. Next the lower lawn was created using instant roll out turf.

Our landscapers then installed the granite ball water feature using reservoirs, galvanised grills,  pumps, and central LED lights. As children would be using the garden the water feature had to be child friendly. A strip of mirror was installed behind the water feature to give depth and interest.
